Can I have two narcotic prescriptions two weeks apart?

Two weeks ago my family doctor prescribed tylenol 3...........yesterday i went to an orthopedic and he prescribed percocet for the same pains.............can i legally fill both of these since i still have tylenol 3 left from the original prescription?...........these are two different doctors.....my wife says this is illegal and called a doctor shopper ........anyone have any advice as to should I fill this second prescription or not?
