Can a land line and a cell phone number be the same?

I'm getting texts from this person (I think I know him, won't tell me his name) so I did a reverse lookup on the number and it said its coming from a landline in Minneapolis. But that can't be right because I'm getting text messages from the number...I'm sure I typed it in right. How does that work?
