Can someone tell me what's going on with my Yahoo mail?

Lately, even though I have it marked to do so, I've stopped getting email notifications about Yahoo Answers. I used to get notifications whenever I received answers to my questions, best answer, or one of my contacts asked a question. All of a sudden I've stopped getting them at all. Also, even though I have my spam filter on, and have spent a long time "training" it by marking junk mail as spam, I'm constantly being bombarded with junk mail - the same junk mail I mark as spam over and over again. What's going on with my mail, and how can I correct it? Thanks.
