Is it Ok to put a soap in hair? I know its not but read please?

I'm just 18, and i've been using shampoo everyday from the past 1 year. My hair are curly somehow and also i've been suffering from hair loss heredity. Anyway what i wanted to tell you guys is that my friend having great hair told me once he used the soap daily instead of the shampoo. He said he used a soap named 'Lux'. I tried the same but my hair became more dry and i had to re-shampoo my hair all again. Anyway, the other week i tried to do the same but i mistakenly took "DOVE" soap and had it put into my hair. The result i saw was just great. My hair became silky and stayed silky for a longer period then a shampoo. Now i use shampoo 3 days a week and that soap everyday when ever i feel my hair is dirty(i ride bikes). So now after looking at all those results I just wanted to ask if it is OK to use that soap?
