Wheres a good place for a hickey?

my close guy friend and i are going to the movies and we probably arent gonna watch much of it anyways. he has been waiting to give me a hickey for a long time so where is the best place for him to do it? my or my neck? please help!! oh and are hickeys painful or anything?
